You should be fine taking it back. Drones are allowed in India from Dec 1, 2018 but the registration process is still evolving.

Does anyone here have an idea of the status of DJI's Equipment Type Approval (ETA) for India. It seems that you can register and get a UIN for your drone in India only after the ETA has been approved.

No. I haven't opened it beyond the main cover on top of this.. Either way, looks like I will have to send this into repairs.

Additional information: When I try to factory reset the Gimbal settings, it says "Gimbal Reset Settings Failed"

ok.. also just realized that when the device is in follow mode, the gimbal adjusts and moves automatically.
