Perhaps you placed the drone on long grass? Grass can cause this. If not the case, please ignore, no need to reply.

RIP. I learned long time ago to never EVER buy a drone without occusync. Too many connection stability issues.

Without occusync, this drone is dead before it has even been released.

Just fly on a big open grass field without trees nearby, open places are low risk. Just keep the drone close in the beginning, the slowly start to go further and further as you get more comfortable.

Yes you usually want the horizon to show, unless you make a top down shot, so you generally want to fly pretty low to create the right angle.
