The Drone Assist app from Altitude Angel is a free app for checking No Fly Zones and NOTAM’s. I find it quick and easy in the uk but it does need a ‘net connection when out in the field.

Recently updated mine and never seen this issue. Only time mine ever does that is when the battery drops to 19% (I think). Always fly in line of sight so never even seen the out of range return to home.
