Combination of the two. When I flew a P3 I would be approached 80% by angry people. "What are you doing?!?! Are you spying on me/my dog/kids/etc?" When I sold it for a Mavic, which I put faux WW2 bomber decals on, I get approached by 95% interested people. "Nice drone! See anything cool up...

I ended up checking out the ice flow in Kent instead... quite the scene up there!

With temperatures predicted to be in the mid-40s tomorrow, does anyone have any plans to fly? I'm thinking about heading up towards New Milford town park to get some images of Candlewood mountain before they start construction on the solar farm up there.

Totally anecdotal, but I found some generally angry people when flying my P3A. With the Breeze or Mavic, people seem much more relaxed. Maybe the lack of an obvious camera onboard relaxes people? (Oddly enough, my Mavic is in WWII naval garb, with huge teeth and eyes, and people seem to love it...

If it were me, I would not launch from the balcony. The technical reasons have been touched upon, and while I believe it to be possible, even by a “noob” (your word), it’s a bad choice. Anyone on their balcony will see you launch and recover. If they have a chip on their shoulder about “drones”...

I use it to replenish my phone after flying. A Mavic battery at 20% will charge an iPhone to full a few times over. It could also be used to replenish the TX. And as above, you do need to turn on the battery for it to work.

There was some great flying weather this past weekend! 2 mph at 350'! Flew a bit from the New Milford town park before it officially opens (and likely prohibits me flying) and got some good video. Anyone else get some flight time?

Hello from Danbury! Ordered my Mavic about a week ago and awaiting shipment. This will be my third GPS drone (Yuneec Breeze & Phantom 3 Advanced) and I have a few nano and toy grade quads that I fly for fun as well. Looking forward to finding new placed to fly and meeting some new folks.
