Not surprised in any way. There are so many software enhanced feature in the 2 that they can easily implement on the original (Boomerang QuickShot anyone?)
However there are definite hardware changes - like the battery, motors, apparently stronger arms, propellers, and of course the Ocusync...
Indeed, I don't know what came over me to try and go between the trees. Or maybe use the C mode. Really should have just ascended and leave it at that.
Yep, I will pay very close attention from now on. That was not a suitable place to fly.
Perhaps I should have ascended higher straight from the take off point.
I was watching the drone, and not the screen.
Perhaps if I was watching the screen I would have seen how close it was to the branches!

According to reviews, the motors on the Mini 2 sounds different and the propellers are also different.
I'm no expert but would assume that there's some hardware changes based on this.
I mean we were "unlucky" that the Mini 2 came out a year after the Mavic Mini.
I researched prior to purchasing (I bought mine even later than you! In August 2020), and a lot of DJI drone products are at least 2 years before they release the next version (e.g. the Mavic Air).

If it makes you feel better, it's clear that they have also held back the Mini 2 by not offering things that Litchi can offer the Mini 1 (e.g. software-based object tracking, waypoints etc.).
Maybe features for the Mini 3, coming in November 2021?
