Most I ever got on my very first hover with new battery was 24.8 minutes running it down till it would not stay in the air any longer (holding the throttle stick up).

The best and simplest way to get a stronger signal is to make sure it’s not getting ‘diluted’ by turning off your smartphone’s Wifi and cellular - AFTER you cache the maps where you will be flying as maps require either (not both) of those.
These are considered smart batteries so I would assume they would automatically go into storage mode after a given amount of time. Can anyone confirm this?
