Say Your Location (Tacoma and surrounding areas)

Maple Valley area. New to this and still figuring out where I can fly locally.

Reckless drone flights posted on Facebook. Report?

I think that's what he's trying to do.

    Tablets?

How does the screen look, brightness and overall quality? I'm still debating on an 8" for portability (might actually fit front pouch of the FMK bag) or a 10" for the view (I'm assuming it's quite better than an 8"). I've been holding off because I've been hemorrhaging cash lately but the prices...

Reckless drone flights posted on Facebook. Report?

Exactly, he said that the 107 process made him aware of all the online safety violations. Where someone interprets that as he wants to police everyone is beyond me. He wasn't even asking how to report them, he was asking if the community here does and if he should.

Reckless drone flights posted on Facebook. Report?

I took the OP as not looking for a reason to snitch, but genuinely asking if safety violations seen online should be reported. It's a legit question, especially for someone still figuring things out, and most of you jumped on him like high school bullies antagonizing the good kid in class. I get...

    Drone shoots down another drone

The most surprising thing to me is that this was the first time a drone shot down a target drone. I had assumed they'd been doing that since they first got them. Seems like one of the first things you'd practice.

    Insurance?

They let me add my dji goggles with my drone but I'm not sure if I could have multiple drones on one policy. I know pro photographers use the same policy to insure all their camera stuff so I don't see why you couldn't have a few drones on one policy if you can have a few cameras on one policy.

    Insurance?

Yeah, I don't think I'd have the guts to send my new M2P out without insurance. Even doubled up on dji care refresh and State Farm I still got a little nervous lol.

    Insurance?

I'm assuming you're talking about insurance to replace the drone and not liability insurance. The go-to is a personal articles policy from State Farm. It will fully reimburse you the amount on your receipt if the drone is lost, stolen, destroyed, abducted by aliens, etc. It's great in that you...

    Mavic in Manual mode

I wouldn't do it, but out of curiosity can you set up a Mavic to handle like a race drone? No experience with them, but from I've seen in drone racing instructional videos they're controlled very different, even being in mode 2. The video I saw they keep forward speed even with your right thumb...

    Flying over people...

There's also a difference between a business and a private individual posting video to Facebook. A business posting definitely increases exposure to their company and would be considered commercial. If I post video to my Facebook or my non-monitized YouTube there's no reasonable way for that to...

    Flying over people...

I think the whole point of the drone registration is so they know who's door to knock on when one crashes into the ATC tower window.

    Flying over people...

Lol I'm not at all worried about it.

    Mavics incredible safety record.

There's also some sample bias if either of those two reporting failures came to the forum after crashing and looking for answers. And even if they didn't, if two positives make for a high PPM failure rate the sample size is too small. Either way, it doesn't take stats to see it's a highly...

    Flying over people...

I would argue that "commerce" necessitates both parties receiving some benefit, otherwise it's a gift. I'm having trouble finding a way to google if a gift constitutes commerce so I can't really back that up, just my best guess based on my limited experience.
