I have a MP1 and wish it was a MPP. I like the MP1 as it has a lot of flight time (my record flights are around 23 mins) but more would be better. Having a lot of flight time / endurance means you never feel in a hurry to do anything, which really pays off as you can accomplish things with no...
In still air, true. But the main thing that pushes users to use Sport mode is the wind.
What we need is an analysis of range vs various windspeeds for sport mode and p mode.
As a guess, I would expect that if the headwind is greater than half the still air speed in p mode, then sport mode will...
Take the insurance money and buy a replacement off Craigslist. Craigslist is full of Mavic Pros that people bought, used twice (or not at all) then sell months later. I got mine for $600 and its great.
No problem. However, I highly recommend that all pilots get into the habit of doing a 'practice' RTH every few flights so you can see how the drone behaves. Many pilots don't do an RTH until the drone is in trouble, and that isn't the time to find out any problems with it.
If you have obstacle avoidance on, the drone flies slower than it would if it was off. That matters if its windy. Go try a few RTH in various locations and maybe you'll figure it out.
EDIT: for the Mavic Pro, from page 11 of the manual: "[w]hen the Forward Vision System is enabled and lighting...
If you download the kml file from that page, then open it in google earth, you can see the flight profile in 3d. The profile ends in mid air, and the drone still had 46% battery, so it will have flown for some time after the disconnect. Looking at the flight profile it seems pretty certain that...
Can you turn off the sensors on the Mini so that it flies faster in P-GPS, especially when its trying to do a RTH?
If so, turning all that off as default might be good advice to get out there.
I took a look at your log and I'm pretty sure that the drone wont be at the final position shown in the log.
When the log ended, the drone was at well over 500' altitude, being blown downwind at close to 20 mph, with 36% battery remaining. The log ended because the signal was was lost, not...
Stay south of 28th Street else you will in LAX Class D airspace. Best to plan your flight using Airmap or similar app.
I've never flown there, unless you pick a quiet time of day you will likely attract attention.
No. The only way that ice would form on the props was if it was flying in freezing rain. I dont think this is the case.
The DAT file will reveal what the motors and props were doing.
Cell 3 on the battery lost more and more voltage until at one point it was over a volt below the other 2 cells. Thats way too low. The overall battery voltage fell until it was so low that it showed 0%, and, as this was below the percentage setting for forced landing, it went into forced landing...
Concur. I worked in the GPS Joint Program Office for 3 years: to get an accurate position you need 'good geometry' in terms of ranging signals from satellites all around and at various elevations. You flew in what is known as an urban canyon, where number of sats and the geometry of the solution...
