    Firmware Update Headaches

Yes, getting it back on track but then going sideways, I did figure out how to go back and change to the household wifi. The update went smoothly and I was able to fly it this morning, and, two big first impressions. One, is that it is very quiet indeed compared to the original mavic pro and...

    Firmware Update Headaches

I have had issues with updating firmware on previous DJI drones, and with my new Mini 3 it’s more of the same. After one failed attempt to update firmware, when the drone overheated because the download was too slow, I thought I had successfully updated the firmware on my second attempt. But...

APAS and ActiveTrack 5.0 Tests Starting to Show Up

I guess some people have the beta of Active Track because they have been assigned as testers by DJI? That is looking very promising as well. Finally being able to track from in front, or from the side without worrying about obstacles. Skydio 2 killer?

APAS and ActiveTrack 5.0 Tests Starting to Show Up

This review in Spanish features a fairly in-depth look at APÁS and ActiveTrack 5.0, and, looking almost as good as the Skydio 2! Exciting!

    What is c4k?

Thanks for the info. Do you know if it is letterboxed from the field of view of regular 4K, or is regular 4K a crop of it? Would be only a slight change in field of view if the latter, but just wondering..

    What is c4k?

I notice in the video resolution settings there is 5.1k, 1080p, 4K, and something called c4k. What is that? I can’t find any video or post that talks about it. Is it just 4K at a higher bitrate? Kind of like hq mode on the m2 pro? Does it have a crop?

Wait until active track 5.0 before deciding!

A look at the beta version of active track 5.0. I’m excited about the ability to consistently track from in front, although this guy didn’t test that specifically..https://youtu.be/3z33DYeRBLU

Wait until active track 5.0 before deciding!

Before deciding it’s too expensive, let’s wait until active track 5.0 is out and tested. From Billy Kyle’s short demo of a beta version, it looks like it could approach the Skydio 2 in tracking and OA, and that would be a game changer for me. The main reason I use my drone so little is fear of...

    ND Filter #16..Why?

While i agree that there are a lot os scenarios where you want to slow the shutter down to get motion blur, I think people get too hung up on the 180° rule. That rule is largely an artifact of how mechanical shutters used to operate. The point is to get motion blur that looks natural to your...

Air 2 *DOES* have 4K hyperlapse

Yeah, just a tiny bit of room on the sides, but it's cool to be able to digitally tilt up or down..

    Frustrated with 8k Hyperlapse

Also, 99% of people are not going to notice a difference in quality between 4k and 8k, even on a big tv. Not to mention that most people look at these videos on laptops or phones. No, for quality improvements focus on dynamic range, not resolution.

Air 2 *DOES* have 4K hyperlapse

Good to know! So no reason really to use the 8k at all. With 1080p you get the extra options like circle and up to 1 shot every 2 seconds instead of every 6 seconds, plus you get the raw, plus 4k is actually about 8mp so with your 4k timeline you are actually downscaling your 12mp images a bit.

    Frustrated with 8k Hyperlapse

Are you sure there is a 4k option? I thought it was 8k or 1080p, no 4k. Or has that been changed via a firmware update?

Let's talk best still image settings

Well of course the 48mp is going to look better than the 12mp at 100 ISO vs 1600. That's why I said everything else being equal. But 4 second shutter speed is extremely slow, in any wind at all your image will be blurred by the drone moving.

Let's talk best still image settings

Everything else being equal, the 48mp should have LESS dynamic range and more noise in low light than a 12mp. 48mp should be used sparingly, for when you want some extra detail fo a brightly and evenly lit scene.
