Do you get excited when you see a drone?

The RIDER is decent enough and can give you insight into what is flying around you. We purchased it from Drone Nerds. No extra fees. I am unsure of how the lack of 5.8 hurts the system since I don't have access to the ASTM standard that outlines the frequencies for Remote ID. The MOC refers to...

    Aircraft dive bombed drone

When manned aviation is higher than the drone and close, they will have a hard time seeing it. We fly overwatch for a concert every summer. A tourism helicopter takes off and lands within 1/4 of the concert venue (beach). He usually follows a pretty predictable path for his flights. But when...

    Aircraft dive bombed drone

The newest Part 91 COW/A's require an anti-collision light on at all times, day and night. The FAA wants it on in an effort to do everything possible to make the sUAS more visible since these new documents allow BVLOS, OOP and OOMV. Not starting an argument, just throwing it out there for...

Do you get excited when you see a drone?

I don't know if excited is the word for me, but definitely interested. Ever since I got the Drone Tag RIDER Remote ID receiver, it opened my eyes up to the large number of drones flying everyday. Almost all DJI and an interesting mix of models. Minis, Mavics 2,3 and 4, Matrice 30's, Matrice...

    Drone flying illegally?

For further documentation do this. Download the Drone Scanner App. It is free and works best on Android. If the drone is a newer model and higher end like (DJI, Autel, newer/higher end Rukos and Holy Stones) you will be able to obtain information from the drone from it broadcasting Remote ID...

Getting Service on Mavic 4 Pro in US

A couple of months ago I was lucky in that it took a month to get a Care replacement for an Avata 2. (Don't go from a simulator to outside in Acro mode with this drone, get a dedicated FPV drone, LOL). DJI "snuck" it to me via DJI Canada. Maybe think of it this way, when DJI is gone, at least...

Why is it so hard to make a thermal drone?

The thermal you are talking about is not as good as the thermals in Autel, DJI or Skydio drones. These thermal imagers are used by thermography professionals in many industries. They boast much higher resolution, equal or better NETD, adjustable parameters, tested radiometry and more. But I...

What do I need? in order to do 3d images of Microwave / cell towers.

One thing to add. While you can inspect items like this from the 3D model, it works best when you use software that allows you to click on any part of the model and then be able to view the images taken of that area and add annotations and such. There are different solutions that allow this.

What do I need? in order to do 3d images of Microwave / cell towers.

To do inspections from the model you will need to be very close. Sub 1 cm GSD. There are several ways to do this, but I highly recommend the following. 1. Agisoft Metashape. Fly the tower to obtain a low resolution model. Then use Agisoft Flight Planner to create a mission. You can set the...

Why is it so hard to make a thermal drone?

The thermal camera for $500 is not as good. The mentioned camera is only 256 x 192 unless I am looking at a different model. Today's mainstream thermals are 640 x 512, 6 times the resolution (Think of this as the resolution on a TV). Also on a drone SWaP Size Weight and Power are part of what...

Insta360's AntiGravity A1 Takes Aim at DJI with 8K 360° Drone

I am definitely going to pick one up when they come out and if they are available here in the US. I am wondering how DJI will react. DJI can be ruthless against competition.

Mavic 2 zoom new gimbal registration

This thread may seem like arguing, but to me it is the reason I spend my time in all of these sister forums. It is members who go out of their way to help out other members. We may argue with each other, even bicker, but for the most part members help members.

Mavic 2 zoom new gimbal registration

An old post states that if you swap the whole assembly to include the IMU it is a simple swap. If you don't swap the IMU then you must calibrate the gimbal. Calibrating it is not a long or hard process. https://mavicpilots.com/threads/change-mavic-2-zoom-camera-to-mavic-2-pro-camera.116004/

    Drone as First Responder

As DFR becomes more the norm, safety issues are always going to popup. On our flights during the fire, a helicopter flew almost directly over the fire building (to the side by 50 feet) and low, less than 400 feet). I had to fill out a NASA Aviation Safety report for a near mid air collision...

    Drone as First Responder

The FPV drone flew throughout a large brick structure. During this we did not have any signal loss. I only posted snippets of non-sensitive information, but the drone flew the entire structure. It helped having the windows and doors removed during renovation in terms of signal strength. The only...
