You can use the spot healing brush tool in photo shop to exclude you from the photo. Would make it nicer. Very good photo either way.

Make sure you unfold the aircraft before turning on. It needs to calibrate things like the compass and with it all folded up it will mess with stuff.

I don't think this would cause damage. The propellers are intended to stop if they have a interference with an object. For example I landed in a field one time on accident and when I tried to take off it wouldn't because there was an obstruction. I feel they would stop for your finger as well.

Honestly getting a beginner drone like the Phantom 3 Standard is a good start. WIFI based will keep you within close flying parameters to ensure good control and flying Technics which you then can use on a more expensive bird like the Mavic Pro or Phantom 4's
