I am guessing the reviews on FB are fake. The Company posts a reply, like "Glad you like it" to every positive review. There are no negative reviews. I posted my question under their FB posts and got no response. My decision is to not buy from them Thanks all for the helpful responses.

i have the original smart controller and it needed the chrging block that came with it. Otherwise it was SO slow to charge. I know this is a different situation than yours but might give you another angle for trouble shooting,

I have sent in 3 in past 4 years. Estimate was always less than 200. Got a new one back on one and refurbs the other two times.

I have sent drones to DJI for repair on 3 occasions ( no, not the same drone 🙂). The estimate is almost always less than $200. And if you opt for the repair, they will almost certainly send u a like new refurb. But, I think M2P is out of production, so YEMV. No downside to trying tough.
