For actual cinematic footage, forget DJI Go 4, Cinematic mode, and all the advanced exp settings...

Actually, it's still probably good practice to run the DJI Go 4 app somewhat regularly whether you use it in flight or not for the simple matter of making sure you're always up to date with the current remote and drone firmware.

Expectations from DJI at CES 2017

Mavic Pro Plus: 4k60 with 1" sensor, upgraded gimbal with integrated locking mechanism for storage, f/2.8-f/11 adjustable aperture, mechanical shutter, IP44 water-resistance. ;)

It basically does everything the Litchi app does and more. It offers more flexibility and customizability to suit your needs. Also, I've found the Litchi app to be unstable on my iPhone 7 with current iOS - it crashes frequently, whereas the Autopilot app has been solid. Autopilot was just...

DJI only allows one app to connect to the drone at any given time. So you can start the drone, calibrate, and all that business with the Go 4 app if you want then quit that app and launch the Autopilot or Litchi app after for actual mission-based flights. You can always quit the app...

Laptop for video editing (Adobe premiere)

Agree. I've used both Premiere and FCP on macs over the years and they're both equally capable NLE software. Only real reason to choose Premiere over FCP is if your editing workflow involves multiple users that require cross-platform sharing between mac and windows machines or if your work...

Autopilot by Autoflight logic. Autopilot - Autoflight Logic Unfortunately, it's iOS only for now but for android, Litchi is a decent alternative, thought no where near as powerful as the latest version of Autopilot. Litchi is still better than DJI Go 4 when it comes to waypoint/mission-type...

Opinions and thoughts needed on using an iPad Pro 9.7 for video editing/storage/viewing footage?

While you can certainly find a way to make that possible, by sticking to an iOS-only workflow, you are essentially handicapping the Mavic's video capabilities by limiting yourself to just 1080 footage which is further degraded and compressed when edited on the iOS version of iMovie. If you're...

For actual cinematic footage, forget DJI Go 4, Cinematic mode, and all the advanced exp settings...

Honestly, don't waste your time with that nonsense. It's just an exercise in frustration and futility. It's fine for everyday flying just for fun that doesn't require nailing "that perfect shot" or scene. Newest version of Autopilot is simply awesome! Even better than Litchi, far more...

    Complete mobile workflow?

Agree. It's rather pointless to develop a real mobile workflow with just an iPhone let alone do any grading short of just using the basic image adjustment settings on the iOS version of iMovie and the Mavic image settings you've pre-selected prior to hitting record that gets baked into the...

    Software to edit video

Yes that's the beauty of FCPX; it's almost as easy to use as iMovie, but way more versatile and powerful. Adobe Premiere on the other hand is not as user friendly and easy to figure out on your own without consulting some tutorial or receiving training. I kinda feel the same way about...

    Software to edit video

iMovie does indeed support 4k, and can even output ProRes, assuming you have the latest version on a late-model mac with hardware that can actually handle it. I use FCPX most of the time... iMovie on occasion on my secondary macbook when I'm travelling and want to do a quick edit and post. As...

Got the Mavic! Love it. And I "made" the smallest hardcase possible...

Barely. It's a pretty small surface because it's a pretty small case. You can take off from it with the landing feet just barely at the edges of the lid's face, but it will be pretty impossible to land on it without becoming disastrous as it's nearly imposisble to nail a perfect landing even...

No issues with the props. The bottom base foam and convoluted lid foam is of the same soft compressible variety as the pick-and-pluck foam in between and it easily gives way to closing the lid without placing any potentially damaging pressure to the Mavic even with the props left on.

What to do with video? Transfer, storage, ect.

If you're recording in 4K, you're going to need some serious hardware to edit, as well as some serious storage if you want archive all your original footage even after editing. Otherwise, you'll have to edit quickly and discard the unwanted footage for the sake of keeping storage needs in...

    Night Flying?

Also, not just when landing at night when the downward optical sensors functionality are not optimal or reliable, but the forward optical sensors for obstacle avoidance may also be handicapped with low light, or may not work at all as intended. So you can't really rely on obstacle avoidance...
