Where can I get OEM Mini 4 parts

Recently aquired my new Mini 4 Pro and hand launched it near a tree. It seams to fly slightly backwards when launching and ended up hitting the end of a branch, causing the poor thing to flip over and drop to the ground. One broken, I believe they are called “front arm axis hinge” later, and...

    Smart controller versus Tablet

When it comes to what controller I prefer, I have a foot in both camps. I previously used my Android phone with my M2P Controller; as my Gen 2 Apple iPad was not compatible with the DJI GO 4 app. Then one day my phone ran hot and the GO 4 app kept freezing while my drone was still flying, which...

Those Hand Landings Look so Easy

Agree. I had the same experience. It was quite unsettling when trying for the first time. But after a bit of practice it all becomes second nature and I think nothing of hand catching nowadays. Well worth the effort of practicing - do that on a calm day first though :)

    Best Settings for Tight Locations

Yeah I was going to recommend prop guards too. Very useful when flying in tight spaces, inside buildings, etc. You can accidentely nudge a wall and do no damage to the props or the property - saves the airframe from crashing too. A good investment.

Close encounter with an ultralight aircraft - ADS-B did its job

Thanks for the reply Steve. I wasn't aware that the MA2 gave audio ADS-B notifications, that is definitely a plus; and its great that the ADS-B works so well for you - I'm envious :) . Unfortunately I have a MP2 which was made before the beginning of this year, so I dont have the luxury of...

Close encounter with an ultralight aircraft - ADS-B did its job

Being a conscientious certified drone/ RPAS pilot I have spent quite a bit of time thinking about and researching this type of potential of conflict between low flying aircraft and our drones, so I was thrilled to hear DJI announce last year that it was attempting to remediate this situation by...

Which mobile device are you flying with? (November 2020)

Fair enough. I thought my eyesight was letting me down as I went through the entire list many times :) It would have been interesting to see how many people are using and recommend the Smart Controller. I use the SC as my primary controller, with my iPad Mini 4 as a secondary, and a Samsung...

Which mobile device are you flying with? (November 2020)

The DJI Smart Controller seems to be missing from your list. I use the Smart Controller all the time and have the supplied Controller plus an Apple iPad Mini 4 set up as a secondary controller.

    Flying near people and housed

Yeah, here in Australia you cannot fly a drone closer than 30 m to people — other than those helping you to fly or navigate your drone. This means there is a cylinder around them from the surface to max height, just as you described. It DOES NOT mean there is a 30 m "bubble" over people as a...

New DJI smart control will not link to WIFI

Excellent!! That worked for me. I had just updated the firmware on my Smart Controller plus had a new router installed when converted over to Australia's National Broadband Network (NBN) this week. I wasn't sure what caused the Wi-Fi connection to no longer work on the Smart Controller. This...

New Firmware for DJI Mavic 2 series ( Official M2P Firmware Update Thread )

Yeah, the APK approach worked for me too. The fact that DJI is recommending this approach was enough for me to try it out. SC and RC updated, M2P & Batteries updated with no issues. Went for a short test flight and all seemed to be good. SC as primary and RC as secondary controllers worked...

New Firmware for DJI Mavic 2 series ( Official M2P Firmware Update Thread )

Hi Housenotes. Yes, by reading earlier threads here and watching Youtube videos I quickly discovered that the software and firmware updates reset your carefully collated settings, so I spent some time creating a document that listed all the GO 4 parameters together with the original factory...

    Flying in airspace/NFZ without permisson

Unfortunately common sense is not very common ? and people are prone to do stupid things without thinking of the consequences, hence we need all these regulations.

Anybody tried doing a tethered flight with a Mavic 2?

Hi Womble. Thanks for your experience. I too was considering using some fishing line attached to all four arms of the airframe connecting to a fishing weight below the centre of gravity, and then running down to a fishing reel. However the location had a number of potential risks that I was...

Anybody tried doing a tethered flight with a Mavic 2?

Thanks Casper52. Appreciate your thoughts and advice. Like you I'm a Safety-Sam and really don't want to end up on National TV having created a near-miss situation. The job is right under the main flight path to Sydney International airport, plus it is in a very busy area for float planes and...
