DJI Air 3 - Waypoint Mission Crash into sea

Special thanks! Was not aware of this hint in the Manual.

DJI Air 3 - Waypoint Mission Crash into sea

Thanks @JNB! DJ Wes: "Because the last two waypoints were so much higher, the flight path went below the height of waypoint 2 as it approached waypoint 2 in order to make a smooth curve up to the last two higher waypoints." So that means that there is proof of the idea from @DJ Wes that the WP...

DJI Air 3 - Waypoint Mission Crash into sea

Quite comprehensive work! The question is still: where do WP3 and 4 come from if the TA did not program it? @JNB, maybe check out the WP file with related details on your DJI RC2 (see #15).

MPP disappeared in the mountains. Probably located after more than 2 years.

Yeah, preferable option to reuse the AC as a kite ;) Gluing broken parts might be good for the look, but probably will not solve the interior issues caused by long term influence of vegetation (moss on the motherboard, rotten cables) and rain / melting snow. However, incredible resilience, as...

DJI Air 3 - Waypoint Mission Crash into sea

@JNB: You should be able to see the WP mission w/o connected AC by accessing the WP directory on your DJI RC 2: Hit Tutorial (lower right corner) - Camera view (upper right corner) - WP Function (left side in the middle) - Directory symbol (left to middle, lower third). All WP missions are...

MPP disappeared in the mountains. Probably located after more than 2 years.

Thanks Mycamblur! Our both cases may or may not be a sign of increased risks of non DJI batteries. Statistics welcome! So far, I have used a bunch of DJI ACs, from Phantom 3, Mavic Pro, Mavic 2, Mini 3, Mavic 3. All batteries are OEM – with exception of the one which caused the 'interesting'...

Heart broken Mini 3 pro gone

@Daytona500: Even if you succeed to get a replacement from DJI, I can understand pretty well if you want to recover your M3P to close the issue. @TonyPHX: Great work, your area mapping and TIFF production. Unfortunately, the resolution seems to be slightly below the level which is required to...

Heart broken Mini 3 pro gone

Don't give up. It is still reasonable to have a closer look at the aerial images from the searchflight. As the example of the disappeared MPP shows, chances to find it are low but above zero. And this way to might be able to exclude that it is hanging on a tree with no visibility from the...

MPP disappeared in the mountains. Probably located after more than 2 years.

Just realized the issue and would like to correct one statement in my thread: I used CsvView for the Log analysis of this flight. Creator of the tool is @BudWalker. So, credits to him for this and many other contributions. Thanks Bud, I have learned a lot!

MPP disappeared in the mountains. Probably located after more than 2 years.

Success – MPP found! Finally, weather conditions permitted this 3rd recovery attempt. Equipped with climbing equipment, I went down the steep rocky slopes according to the path, which was selected from the aerial images. Usually, its easier to climb up than down, because you can see where to...

MPP disappeared in the mountains. Probably located after more than 2 years.

Thats an interesting idea. Unfortunately, the maps resolution of that part of the region - and Alps in general - is significantly lower than in cities or POIs. So, seems, we need to trust our eyes and imagination. In a few days, I hopefully will know...

MPP disappeared in the mountains. Probably located after more than 2 years.

Yes, you both are right, @TonyPHX and @rwilliam99. It all started with some kind of forensic exercise, getting to know what caused the sudden disappearance of the MPP. Inspired by well known members in the forum, which are able to precisely analyse flightlogs and narrow down the point of impact...

MPP disappeared in the mountains. Probably located after more than 2 years.

Here is where I think it might have "landed" (see yellow circles). There seems to be only a very small observation window which allow to spot this somehow mavic shaped object. Only 2 of dozens of images display this specific location, as trees and bushes usually block the view to the surface...

MPP disappeared in the mountains. Probably located after more than 2 years.

Side note: The battery diagram (post #1) showed the thresholt voltage (SMART_BATTERY:voltage [V]) at which the MPP was cut off by the FC. Approx 30 sec before the flight was terminated, battery cell 3 started to rapidly deplete and reached unhealthy 1,79 V, while the total resulting voltage...

Impressive mapping mission. And it shows how a colorful AC painting can save the day.
