Seems the battery might have popped off during flight. Maybe trace to route it flew, and you might find the battery. If it’s a good distance from the crash site, that’s probably the case. Otherwise the battery should be near the crash site.

10 miles round trip. Just standard M2P. Calm day, flown a few hundred meters offshore along the beach, away from houses. Signal still good around 5 miles out, turned back so I don’t run out of battery.

If your drone didn’t not have a good GPS lock, the last thing you want to do is press the Home button. It wouldn’t really know where to go. It’s too late to mention this but testing/demonstrations should be done in an open field away for obstacles.
