Another question...is it better to use the RTH function VS manually flying the drone home if battery is getting low? I know the RTH only uses the slower P mode speed but manually I could fly faster with S mode.
Yes, VLOS always for me when I do land remote. I have a dirt runway landing strip by my home. Home is at one end and a very nice 10x10 concrete run-up pad at the other end so perfect remote landing site. Super fun to fly to end land and come back. Just something I like to do.
Another question...does the Mini calculate the RTH based on the distance you are from the HP and the remaining battery? In other words is is "actively recalculating" the point at which it needs to tell you to think about returning to home?
Folks is it possible to take off from one location and land in another location, and then take off and return to the starting point? I guess you would need to maintain signal and have sufficient battery. Just a thought I had and would like to try.
OK, so that makes me feel a lot better. I was imagining flying down into the valley, hitting RTH and watching my Mini fly into the hill below my home! Obviously I would likely have the chance to stop the RTH and fly it higher but good to now understand. Thank you for your reply.
Hello all, can you help me understand the return to home altitude setting and how it works. Here is my situation, I fly from my vacation home which is situated on a ridge line above a valley. I set my home point and then my RTH altitude to say 100 feet, and then fly across a valley where I am...
SUCCESS! All I needed to do as many of you said is to calibrate the compass. I also did the IMU just to be sure. Flys like a champ now...so much fun indoors and outside. Thank you to all of you for your help...this is a rgeat resource sight!
Agreed… The fact remains that I traveled almost 150 miles back from my Desert house to home and I did not perform a Compass or IMU calibration. It sounds like that is the problem so I will make sure I do it this weekend and then test the mini and report the results back here. Thank you to all...
Does the fact that I was flying indoors without any satellite connections and or GPS have any bearing on why my mini flew erratically? I would think that indoors the only positioning device the mini would have would be the sensors on the bottom. Or am I incorrect in the Compass still works...
