    CARBON FIBER BLADES

ALL blades will chop your fingers off. Or at least try to. Anything even mildly sharp at that speed will go straight through flesh

    First impressions

I have to admit, I don't use RTH, either. In fact the mini was my first experience in it's use. It was rather forced on me, since every flight ended with loss of control and automatic return under RTH, and I doubt that anywhere, the mini was much more than a couple of hundred yards away

    First impressions

As a Phantom, and later, a Mavic Pro flyer, I was impressed with the spec of the mini. So, I bought one. The mini was certainly an object of delight. However as a flying object, rather less so. Several flights on, I'm rather underwhelmed with the results. Take-off was a dream, a quiet, stable...

thread locker for Mavic Mini screws.

Umm. I was rather under a misapprehension as to the function of the screws, but since they are, in fact only the pivots for the blades, there, should be very little force being applied to loosen them. I should have engaged brain before opening mouth. Rather curiously, in a photo of the mini in...

    Camera Settings

Ah, that's better. Whilst the overexposure bars are helpful, they are, to my mind, extremely distracting. particularly in the the upper part of the display, where they virtually obliterate very important stuff, like the battery condition, the respective signal strength, and GPS status. I do...

thread locker for Mavic Mini screws.

Having said all that, it has occurred to me that a slight change to the prop design might help. A small lateral extension of the hub, lodging against a similar one on the other hub, would each brace the other against reverse rotation, and still allow the blades to fold FORWARDS, for storage.

thread locker for Mavic Mini screws.

Again, not quite so. Friction is solely proportional to the force and the coefficient of friction, not to area. In fact, the greatest frictional effect is between the shaft hub and the prop hub, being of larger diameter. Thus the resistance to turning is due more to that, than the screw. Rather...

    Camera Settings

Not in my version of the manual, it doesn't. (V1.0 20/11/19). All it says is "11. Camera Modes Switch. Choose between Auto and Manual when in photo mode.In Manual Mode, shutter and ISO can be set. In Auto Mode,AE lock and EV can be set."

thread locker for Mavic Mini screws.

Not so. The tension in the screw shank is applied equally to the thread and the screw head. I used to be a Jig and Tool Design Draughtsman and am well conversant with the clamping abilities of bolts and screws. A half inch bolt, typically exerts a force of about three tons, and pro rata down to...

thread locker for Mavic Mini screws.

I don't want to get shot down for this, but why do you need a thread locking agent? A screw thread is held tight by frictional forces generated by the tension in the screw, and has sufficed for many, many years. I've had, in the distant past, a fair amount of experience of the stuff, but mainly...

    Camera Settings

I'm sure that this must have been covered, but I've been unable to isolate this in queries. In a lull beteen high winds and constant rain, I took the mini outside for a trial run. All seemed reasonable in comparison with my Mavic Pro. But, the camera settings and the onscreen view are bugging me...

An oddity with the satellite view

The DJI Go 4 app, on the dedicated phone does show the satellite view in all it's glory, BTW

An oddity with the satellite view

I've today taken delivery of my Mavic Mini, and am anxious to set it up. I have a phone, (A Nokia 8)reserved for use with my Mavic Pro, and decided to use that. All went as well as normal, except that there did not appear to be an option to switch the map view to satellite view. Without the...
