    New UK drone regs

https://www.caa.co.uk/publication/download/25025 Just published. A few make sense but then a load of duplication and slight difference from the EU rulings for no obvoious reason. Common theme was "a majority of responders were negative to this proposal but we're going to do it anyway) Direct...

Question re: ATTI mode for the Air3S

IT was still hackable on the earlier mavic models (up to Mavic 2 Pro i believe) and yes it was very useful. I often used it to judge actual wind at altitude (take it up, put it on ATTI and you can clearly see the exact wind direction and speed before starting a flight). Used it a lot in...

Question re: ATTI mode for the Air3S

That isnt going to be legal in most/all countries. Firstly aviation law, secondly radio transmission related laws.

Question re: ATTI mode for the Air3S

Not quite. If they're jamming GNSS the drone will drop down to atti mode and you fly it that way. If they jam control as well then it'll drift off on the wind. 4g won't help. That's easily jammed.

Question re: ATTI mode for the Air3S

I hacked my Mavic 2 to reallocate sport mode to ATTI. Yep its fun and fast and also useful in areas with weak GPS that would cause spirals and drift. I dont think its possible on later drones, its not disabling sensors, its telling it to ignore (but not disable) GPS. It simply means it wont...

That sign isnt legally valid for anything. No more than "free kittens" or "dont litter".

The law is not pedantic. You couldnt be arsed to read purely because the contents directly contradict the view you want to be true. The head-in-the-sand approach really does nothing. The laws exist whether you choose to know them or not. Just because they dont suit you doesnt mean they dont...

That again is legally incorrect. Your car is pretty often on private land which would require permission (albeit implied if its main public). The road is generally owned by highways or the council.

First member of public to have a go.

Not strictly true. Data protection laws, privacy laws and the ANO all put clauses as to the use. Civil Aviation Actt 1982: landowner's rights generally extend only to the airspace reasonably necessary for the ordinary use and enjoyment of their land and the structures upon it. Which does...

Thats not how it works or means at all. That doesnt mean its public land with default right of access for all activities. (Quite the opposite in fact given most of the area is tenure farmer and others). There is very little public land anywhere in the Lake District. The LDNP owns very very...

The UK actually has very little public land. Thats the problem. Crown estate/foreshore but not much else. If you're going use the "airspace" argument, you need to make sure youre on public land first.

First member of public to have a go.

Unlikely. Usually take the police 3-4 weeks to follow up on drone reports like that as its low priority. And generally a Sunday. Ususally though they wont bother. If the person has gone theres no offence anyway. Ultimately if its private land the CAAs own drone code and CAP (and standard UK...

If the car park is owned by them then yes they can tell you to leave. Its their land. They dont need signs to specify every allowance or ban. Perfectly entitled to do whatever they want on it. They cant stop overflight but can tell you to not operate from their land in the same way you could...

Were you on their property? In which case they're perfectly entitled to tell you to leave. There can be privacy issues (as the drone code and CAP mention). I can see why me in a meditation place maybe a bit worried about it. In those circumstances, just pack up and leave.

Auto exposure gives better highlights and shadow details in high ISO than manual at lower ISO

Checking through this, do you need full auto exposure (iso and SS) or can you just have auto ISO with a fixed shutter speed here? The latter is useful for ensuring 180 rule (and the DJI love of setting a shutter too slow for a crisp image at times) or the former (less useful, more fiddling with...
