As the article says flying further than you can see may be coming.

I haven't been flying long but have often wondered why you cannot fly further than you can see I get that emergency service helicopters etc may be flying lower than normal but they make that much noise you would hear them long before it became an issue i also don't mean flying many miles away but surely as we all can see what the drone sees going a little further than line of sight wouldn't be an issue and i am sure most of us have done it more times than we would admit, maybe they could put a lower hight restriction in place and limit the length of flight to stop pilots going to extremes.

I’m with you on this. It does seem a touch restrictive-I see where the authorities are coming from (and there are idiots out there who fly recklessly) but if I find I have “lost” my drone up against a bright or contrasting sky I very quickly (panic!!) check my controller to see which way my drone is pointing and then pop it round and fly back to where I can see it-RTH can also help. With my eyes it’s often the props that tell me it’s nearby in this scenario. Don’t think we’ll see any such relaxations here!

Isnt going to happen. Its intended for commercial drone use and along specific corridors.

UK and i suspect most countries, for very good reasons are never going to certify recreational drones for BVLOS.

Until they all come fitted with active and passive detect and avoid, propulsion redundancy and so on it simply isnt safe and wont be done so.
