Hey so I’m in Venice and was thinking of flying my Mini 4 Pro. I have A1/A3 certification, it’s marked with the C0 classification and the drone and I are registered in the Netherlands.

I asked the local police and they said I couldn’t fly without authorisation and was told I could get it on the website of Venice.

I tried looking there but could not find anything. Someone else posted on another thread a screenshot from 2022 on D-flight where everything was marked as a no fly zone. I cannot make a d-flight account because I don’t have an Italian tax number.

If anyone knows anything more recent or where I can get the proper authorisation that’d be great.

I believe all of Venice is now a no-fly zone and I would be surprised if they were giving put permission to fly there. They have even started to limit the amount of tourist allowed onto Venice ground, each day and started a tax per person, to try and reduce the tourists. The Venice police don't put up with any bother from tourists either, so if there is a chance you are not doing something within the rules, they can be a bit overpowering.

My brother flew a drone around Pompeii, the Vesuvius, and even at the Colosseum, and the guards and guides at all three places were smiling and waving at it. But his was one of the first to do it there a long time ago. Good luck with yours and be careful about where you fly, I fear that the golden age of drones has passed.

Ohhh well back in the golden years, you could just bout fly anywhere and people were excited to see such a thing. Those days are sadly, long gone.

Yeah no chance there. The 20,000 euro fines have been levied several times along with smaller fines in the thousands.

Its ruthlessly enforced by all the various police forces and things like Aeroscope.

FWIW you dont need a tax number for d-flight. You can just enter 0s or anything like that and it will work.

You can use here to generate a random number: https://www.avvocatoandreani.it/ser...ndreani.it/servizi/calcolo_codice_fiscale.php

MEXMEE60A01H501E for example.

Cant upload a screenshot as the forum is moaning its too big (it isnt) or link to imgur or upload a png to show you but basically, you might get some bits of Lido where you can fly up to 25m but thats about it.
