Unpleasant surprise when making a claim for fly-away coverage with DJI care plus

That was true at the time of my original purchase. But DJI offers you a DJI care refresh a year later when the original DJI care package is about to expire. The refresh includes fly-away coverage, and they did cover my loss in this case.

Experiences with Galaxy S21 and DJI Fly?

It is pretty simple. Once you download the .apk file to your downloads folder on your phone (or drag and drop it there from your connected computer), then using the My Files app on your phone open the .apk file. It may require you to change your security settings to enable installing apps from...

Air 2 without adsb can track planes and helicopter?

I think they just removed the logo, but ADSB does exist. I just had mine replaced via the DJI care package and the new one they sent me did not have the logo. But when flying it still gives me the usual notifications of any nearby aircraft like my previous one.

Unpleasant surprise when making a claim for fly-away coverage with DJI care plus

As an FYI, I ultimately decided to pay the $399 replacement fee to DJI. They sent me a new MA2 drone & battery within a week. All is good again, other than my wallet being a bit thinner.

DJI FLY APP UPDATE _DJI have launched the new version 1.5.1 (2005) for android

I can attest that version 1.5.1 worked with my Galaxy S21 that was just updated to Android ver 12. I had to sideload it, as others have pointed out it is no longer available on the Google Play store. I just tested it this morning and everything seems to work. I had not updated the Fly App in...

DJI Air2S vs The Autel Evo2 6k Pro, Speed and wind tolerance

I can attest to the need to lower your altitude in high headwind situations. In one experience flying too close to a mountain ridge with my MA2 I ended up facing a strong headwind that started pushing the drone back over the ridge away from me and possibly out of communication line-of-sight...

Unpleasant surprise when making a claim for fly-away coverage with DJI care plus

Yes, I believe that is the case under the presumption retrieval is not practically possible. The fairly high replacement fee helps incentive the claimant to not be frivolous.

Being a bit judgey aren't we? But in response to your post, would you drive your car any different if you didn't have insurance?

Unpleasant surprise when making a claim for fly-away coverage with DJI care plus

Thanks. I noticed that Trackimo uses a cell phone transmissions for communication of its location. In my particular situation, the drone was lost in a remote area (steep canyon) with no cell phone service (with AT&T). A friend that was with me on a different carrier also did not have any...

Unpleasant surprise when making a claim for fly-away coverage with DJI care plus

When filing the claim, they did require that my flight log data was uploaded and visible to DJI via their cloud infrastructure. They also requested I upload the captured video of this flight (which I happened to have captured on my phone). I didn't try to obscure or keep anything from them in...

Unpleasant surprise when making a claim for fly-away coverage with DJI care plus

Actually, I think overall the DJI care policy (and plus refresh) are worth it. I just had the wrong impression of the replacement cost in the event of a fly-away. To me, I think their advertising for the Care Plus policy was a bit misleading. You really have to dig deep to find out the...

Unpleasant surprise when making a claim for fly-away coverage with DJI care plus

Unfortunately about a month back while flying my MA2 along a river in a heavily forested and mountainous area, I ended up losing my drone on the far side of the river. The best that I can gather is that it struck a power line coming out through the trees that I did not see. After a couple of...

Air 2 Flight into a slot canyon

We encounter them sometimes in the more open canyon areas.

Air 2 Flight into a slot canyon

Canyoneering does have its risks. But the rewards are significant in being able to explore places others have seldom seen. To stay safe it requires planning ahead of time to know what type of terrain and obstacles one is likely to face, having the right gear (including backup gear and an extra...

Air 2 Flight into a slot canyon

Thanks for the feedback. I try to get out there every Spring and/or Fall with my friends exploring the countless number of these slot canyons in Southern Utah. Having the drone has been useful to get a better idea of the terrain ahead of time.
