Black tape or marker is the only way. I also tape mine for some shoots as the you can see the flashes in night images and motion work.
You can even use blue painters tape, you'll be able to still see the light but only slightly

Looks like you're going to have to replace the arm which has the number for motor on it looks like your ECS and motor or bad probably broke when it crashed
I have found the copper seem to work better then the silver colored ones which I think are made from either sheet metal or aluminum

Thanks for the information, just picked up a set of 8831's got the dreaded "abnormal gimbal Shake" error for the first 1 min haven't had an issue since. I think it's because the joints are to tight and need to loosen up a bit. Since I haven't had that issue again.
