RTH and set height higher than any trees ,is what i would have set. Trouble is, loose signal and you have no control of where that happens, could be over water, over power lines etc. You can gain control and cancel the RTH once you get signal again. Only time really not to use RTH would be out...

As suggested an ipad or iPhone 6s+/7s would help keep extra cost down. Should be able to find this side of $200 and use as a dedicated screen. It can be frustrating , as it can be with new releases.
