just curious - do you happen to have a local r/c plane and heli club up there? if so, it would be worth it to ask if you could join. the club i belonged to has 3 days a week for open fly.

Ray, there's a great app called Airmap. it's available for iPhone and i believe Android devices. you can use that to locate safe places to fly anywhere. start with an area you'd like to fly in and use that to tell you if it's safe to fly there. fly safe and good luck!

i guess i always thought that the RE goggles were meant for people who already had a racing drone and were looking for bigger, better goggles.

i never, ever shut the r/c or transmitter off while the vehicle (drone in this case) is on. :) i had a friend make that mistake with my 14+ pound r/c truck. the lipos in the truck started getting low, i suggested we power it down to swap the batteries out, and he turned the transmitter off...

agreed, IMHO. i have many many electric rc's, and have a plethora of different brand lipo's. but i can monitor the balancing of individual cells in a given pack - DJI's have it all in one, and especially with them being intelligent discharge, i don't want to mess with anything but theirs.

i bought this from Amazon. it seems to have good protection, but i wouldn't throw it with the goggles inside

i have the regular DJI Goggles and bought focus fixers for them. reading glass lenses that come preassembled with a 3D printed frame that clips right to the viewfinders. i bought the goggles for fun, but i also have a ipad air with a sun visor thing that helps a ton. i didn't get the RE goggles...

guys, calm down. i didn't mean i sent it back in for a scratch - i thought (and still believe) it was wrong when it was sent to me in the first place. my MPP flipped within the first 5 minutes. i know that's not normal, i didn't do it with the controller, and getting the same one back was...

i feel your pain. got my brand spanking new MPP after waiting months, charged batteries and did all calibrations, only to have it crash (flip!) 5 minutes into the flight. was told to send it back to DJI and had to call 2 weeks later after not hearing a thing. i explained that it wasn't anything...

i too started with a Spark then upgraded to a MPP. the Spark sounds like a small, loud, angry group of bees. the Mavic sounds like much bigger, quieter, more peaceful bees ;)
