1000 m high altitute flight - Buying Advice

You have to land in an area where you still have a lear line of sight to the drone, and turn off the motors, and immediately restart to reset the home point. Drone is never powered off, but you still must have full signal connection for the restart of the motors. Plan the spot carefully in advance, perhaps by flying from the spot of your interim landing to your planned final start location. Obviously, it needs to be an elevated flat area midway. It can be done.

Also immediately move the HP back to where you are via the map feature for setting the HP. This won't alter the new height limit, but it will bring the drone back to you if something happens and you lose your connection.

This whole landing half way and then getting up again is not an option for me. The vulcano is extremely steep and there are no places to land. Also if something goes wrong there will be no way to recover the drone. There is a 4km radius now, last 6, where it’s strictly forbidden to enter, it’s guarded by the military, my only chance is to get as high as possible until the last military checkpoint and then take off. If I’m lucky that’s 1000m below the crater but maybe also 1500m below the crater. So if I would go up 1000m the middle of the crater would still be 4km away. Which would be ok with a longer lens

Have you tried reaching out to the Phillipine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology? They will be currently monitoring Canalon and the rest of the Negros Belt (Occidental and Oriental). The ability to provide contemporary high resolution video and photographic data would be of value to them and association with a scientific body would open the door to official and legitimate access to one of the 'red arrow' summit trails.

Kanlaon Volcano Observatory is located at the campus of La Carlota City College in Barangay Cubay, La Carlota, Negros Occidental

Yes we filmed at philvolcs and yes they would be very happy to look into the volcano. But the problem is not them but DJI. Getting closer to the volcano is not even allowed for them right now.

Simply ask DJI FlySafe for a Custom Altitude Unlock. Takes a couple of hours.
Problem solved!

Hello!!! You must see the VFR charts of the area and the air routes, arrival and departure to do not disturb the air traffic!!!
For me you must do flight Plan before flight 15 -30 days to the location CAA, to take the OK!!!
Beware the weather, because on the top of volcano, weather is unstable...!!!

This is for a volcano in the Philippines, not Greece

It’s forbidden for planes to fly anywhere near the volcano right now. It spits out ashes

It's a drone, not a manned aircraft. The drone pilot obviously assumes responsibility for the loss of his drone, should it be "consumed" by the eruptions of the volcano during flight.

so you think the it makes sense to get the Air3s and an unlock from DJI? The guy who wants to sell the mavic 3 pro is waiting for my answer. I’m not very sure about it. The downside for me with the mavic is that I need to carry separate controller. With the air I could just use the controller of the mini4pro and carry both drone and and would probably be lighter then the
Mavic. On the other hand the mavic 3pro with hack is more flexible. I guess image quality wise they should be similar. The mavic 4 pro would also be a good option but I’m really a bit unhappy with the size and weight
