I'm new to both this site and to owning the Mavic 3. First I like to say I love flying this drone. I originally had the DJI Mini SE to learn and get used to drone flying and then bought the Mavic 3 because I wanted way more than the SE could give me.

My first question is, can the micro sd card transfer speeds effect the quality of RAW images? My current sd card is rated all the necessary ratings but it's transfer rate is 130MB. Do I need to get the higher transfer of 160MB? The photos I take in RAW always come out grainy with weird artifacts.

My second question is, my church is doing some renovating and have asked me to do a time-lapse of the construction. Can the Mavic 3 save a location so I can take an image from the same location?

Thanks for reading and I appreciate any help given.

Greetings from Birmingham Alabama USA, welcome to the forum!

The speed of the SD card could affect the images/video if the card is too slow for the drone to write to the SD Card.

The Mavic 3 will usually complain if it doesn't like the card you put in.

Card speed issues shouldn't do that.
Post a sample and perhaps the metadata will have some clues.
To post a raw image file, you'll have to upload to dropbox or similar and post a link.

take an image from the same location?
Possibly simple solution. Pick a spot out of the way of future disturbance that will be usable for the duration. Take off from that location each time pointed in the same direction. Climb to set altitude.
Note camera angle.
Or, look at some of the mapping apps available for the M3.
Maven is one of them.

Card speed does not impact transferring data from the card to the computer. The only time card speed matters is in the drone when he drone camera is sending data to the card faster than the card can write it.

Hey Starz... thanks for your contributions to the forum!!!! However, I don't think the M3 is on the supported list for Maven. If I'm wrong please let me know. Thanks again.

I don’t think that Maven or any other 3rd party app can be used with the Mavic 3 since DJI has not released the SDK. If you look at the list of supported drones from Maven’s banner description the Mavic 3 isn’t there. If what we read is correct DJi never will release this SDK, much to the dismay of many of us.

I removed the SD card from the drone and used the internal memory for shooting RAW and it came out the same way. Small image, looks like 4x6, very grainy with the image quality looking like garbage. I would assume the internal transfer speed of the drone would be up to the task for anything since I would assume the memory is attached to the drone board itself. I'll try and post an image of a RAW file.

Definitely, something else is wrong here. Do you have access to One Drive, DropBox, Google Drive, or another platform where you can upload an image or two? Then post a shared link here.

Auto, 16x9
I just looked at the images and personally, don't look too bad. Some adjustments in post would work.
I would be interested to know what the ISO setting was. Have you tried shooting with manual settings? Just curious.

I'm sure others will chime in to offer their opinions as well.

I was keeping it on auto because I didn't want to influence anything. ISO should be around 200 and the dimensions are 960x540 which confuses me. When I post the images to google drive it looks different but on my PC and on my DJI RC with the screen, not the pro, they both look grainy, small, and weird artifacts on all brick buildings. Could it be that my PC doesn't know how to handle .DNG files? If so why does my controller also show the same abnormalities?

You aren't looking at the actual raw images at all.
DJI raw image files need specialised software to view.
If you don't have software that can view the dng files, what you see is the tiny jpg preview image that is inside the dng file.

What software are you using to view the image files?
If you looked at the jpg files, your software would show you the image at full resolution.

I was about to come back on here and say that I figured it out. It's been awhile since I did anything with RAW files and I guess when I owned my old DSLR I already had the necessary file viewer. I downloaded a free .dng file viewer but will keep looking for a program so I can view and edit images of any kind. Thanks everyone for the help!
