A minor indiscretion

Sorted. It has got another drone users id. This has been returned to store before. Argos are famous for this. Reboxing returns and shipping them back out to unsuspecting customers.
Glad to hear it's not DJIs fault..

It's not over yet. Finally got it to accept. My ceiling, gas fire and record player are now displaying the scars. Not me thankfully. It took off on connecting, seems like sport mode was engaged. Amazingly the drone is not damaged but it is as dead as a dodo. It feels red hot though and the battery has been put outside.

Tried a new battery. I'm a pioneer. Pinned it down this time. It tried to fight it's way to the right. No input from me other than holding it down. It got red hot again. This tells me the speed controller has a fault. Blades are fitted correctly.

I was going to say exactly that - not the first time I’ve experienced this with Argos. Should be better next time around.

Hope you get it sorted soon - a couple of good flying days coming up - low winds and no rain.

A bit more digging has revealed that even people buying direct from dji have experienced this issue. Seems that change of shipment can cause issues. In other words serial numbers lets say destined for the uk can be redirected last minute to the USA. So appear stolen to the computer system. Makes sense?

Although that is not my issue. Yes hopefully I can get it sorted for the upcoming flight window. Failing that the mini will provide the entertainment, flawlessly.

No it did not. Thanks for that info. You should have wise in front of the old man. Thanks.
@Ramjam61 its really sad that you had to go through all that aggro, after your excitement at getting your drone ,these things are a large investment and it is very disheartening when you feel you have made a mistake and think its something you have done wrong i am sure you will be pleased when you get your replacement ,do please let us know how things go with that

Well their policy due to corona virus is that all return items have to be unopened. So I expect some issues. Fortunately I use paypal but issues can take 30 days so no flying this weekend. Iff it all goes tits up I have lots of spares for one I'll buy from a reputable source.

if you do go down that route, then i get my stuff from drones direct and i have heard heliguy are also very good

Here is another take on it. Their server is down. They delivered it as per contract. When they accept payment, I can activate it. I'll wait a while. The world we live in. Sometimes huge companies will aim to satisfy the customer first. I can only hope.

Compass calibration?

Well. Owned a mavic mini for less than a week. Been on this forum for even less. Look what just arrived.View attachment 104478
Once you go bigger you dont go back to the mini.. unless your letting one take a hyperlapse with the air and hand it to the wife to not touch but watch while you fly the mini.....

Sussed it. When selecting the aircraft, choosing camera view bypasses the set up process. However you are flying by the seat of your pants. So I could fly but I won'
Compass calibration?
Not sure as I still have not been able to get it to initialize yet.

They cannot legally impose a policy like that.

If the box didn’t have a shrink wrap then it’s likely it is a previous return.

If you cannot activate it then it fails to be a working product and you are entitled to a refund or replacement under consumer law in the UK.

No policy can override your legal rights as a consumer.

I hope you get it sorted soon.

An update. Because all Argos stores up here are temporarily closed I used their online chat. When I mention faulty item the person on the other end leaves the chat and does not return. After 2 hours of this I've had enough.
Their in Sainsbury stores are refusing to accept it because it's been opened. Im at a loss at the moment and it's obviously a bad time to have things go wrong.

The best way to overcome this illness is to separate immediatly from all mavics. It is radical, but the only way to survive.
Since my doctor gave up the hope to cure me and since I am a very social empathatic person, I offer to take care of your products.
