I bought a Phantom 4 Pro while the MP was at the hospital for sick drones in Carson. Should be back next week.

The P4P is not as portable as the MP by any measure. But the "setup time advantage" over the P4P is **** near negligible. I leave the P4P case in the back of my car.
Open the door
Open P4P box (original shipping container)
Mount the blades (while in the box)
Take it out - remove the gimbal lock
Check the battery

Ready to fly*

This really does not take longer (enough) than the P4P to be a factor. That leaves portability.

Other things like mounting the ipad to the controller are pretty much a wash.

*Note that my "fit for flight" checks are done at home the night before or at least before I head out; and of course the other pre-flight checks at the site are carried out. The above is just to blow off the "setup" claim. Further the P4/P, unlike earlier Phantoms, has quick attach props similar to the MP.

Yes but most people leave the MP props on, that cuts a lot of time off the setup of both drones. To me it's more about the portability and the lack of attention a mavic draws. Most people think it's a toy and once it's up and gone the people that pass by think I am playing with a portable video game. I love the expression on the faces of those few people that happen to be there when it comes into land, it's like where the heck did that come from.

For me I moved from a P4 to the Mavic mostly because of the blades being able to stay. I hated messing around with the blades. I also had one fly off on startup because I screwed up. With the Mavic at that was eliminated. .And I was able to carry a lot smaller case in and out of the car, over to friends etc. I didn't look like I was carrying a suitcase for an overnight trip. A large backpack was necessary. The size is very Important to me, the set up almost as much

Portability and low visibility are the selling points for me; sometimes about the P4 speaks droid more than drone.

I chose the MP for the portability and for its "oh-so-god-****-stable" hovering capability..

Portability won me over although I think the P4 and Pro version have better video/image quality.

I launch the Mavic and no one knows it's there. It's so quiet at altitude.

But you spend time unfolding arms and the blades + dome to remove (and gimbal lock covered above).

As I say - the delta is tiny.

After flying the MP for so many times, those actions (unfolding the arms, gimbal prot removal, etc etc etc) just feels second nature already..

so not really a big deal in my books,,, I actually find the attaching of the phone to the RC more cumbersome than doing those task on the AC itself..

As I said, portability wise the MP cannot be beat.

All I was saying is that setting up the P4P is quick enough that it's not a factor (v. the MP).
