I live about 19 miles from the airport. Today I flew at an early time than I normally do. ADS-B on the MA2 alerted me 3 times as morning departures were head out from my regional airport. I followed the aircraft on the FLY app and watched it pin point the aircraft as they flew over one an a time. I was just taking off with the MA2 when I got the first warning. I stopped and hovered at 50 feet so that I could track the commercial flights as they passed over head. I know it is a simple technology but it just amazes me how it all just works.

Don’t apologize. I’m still amazed at stationary lift. Lol. As a boy I thought a 10ft delta wing kite with a fishing reel and line was better than chocolate ? Godspeed Droniac

I have the MavAir2 and Air2S with ADS-B on both. I find it only slightly useful. It seems delayed and the planes are always several hundred feet higher than my drone. I think it can lead to a false sense of security as well. That's just my take on it. I prefer just watching the skies to detect and avoid.

If you're used to the display in aircraft the DJI version is very primitive...but heck they're practically giving it away free and it's sure better than nothing. In an aircraft you can put distance rings around your aircraft and of course the ADS-B display contains direction, altitude and climbing or descending and Yikes! aircraft ID...Yeah it's really a heck of a lot better than nothing!

The electronics on planes today is amazing. Nothing like in the last century when I was a pilot but now my son has planes and I can't believe the difference. He has mentioned that he wished all drones were using the ADS-B. His problem is in mountainous areas where the height above ground varies dramatically and has seen a drone at his legal altitude. Not so much a problem here in Florida but since talking with him I have turned mine on. It's very cool as I am on the Coast Guard flight path to the nearby Gulf of Mexico. Stay safe

I turned mine on as well. It was actually off, when I opened the box of my Air2S.
