Air 2S POI

When I use the Air2S for POI, it seems to want to create a large radius. My question is how can I control the radius? For example, it wants to fly 1,000 feet away and when I try to reign it is by using the right stick it works but when I let go it starts flying farther away. Thanks for any suggestions.
