Hello all, I need help!

About two months ago, I bought the 3S and have noticed some problems about a week ago.

When I take off, the thing keeps rising even though I let off the stick. The only way I can stop it is to pull back on the stick but when I do, it won't stop descending. The only way to stop that is to let it land or press up on the stick, at which time it starts to drift upwards again. Another thing, when I push up or down it takes 2 to 3 seconds to react.

Also, when banking to the left the S3 is very slow. When banking to the right, it is normal speed.

I reset all the settings back to default. That changed nothing; it keeps doing it.

Like I said, it didn't do that when I first got it. Am I missing something or has my unit lost its mind?

Thanks,
Paul Livingston

As a rule , if the drone is not perfect out of the box you should take it back, even if you could fix it with a calibration or Horizion fix ,the drone will always be trouble.

Did you buy it new ?

Yes, I bought it new. When I first got it, it was fine. This problem just started. Can't figure it out. Thanks for responding!

There was an update that bricked some drones that had sensor issues , or lighting issues , did you get that update ?

You are trying to fly too soon. After starting the drone will ascend too about a 2 or 3 ft altitude then it will stop and hover. The Drone will "fly off the pad" but you risk a tumble.
In your settings you will find "gain and Expo" your drones slow reactions can be set there.

Thanks, but the drone doesn't hover anymore. It either goes up (by itself) or down by itself. As for the settings, I reset everything to factory defaults but it still does it. Thanks for responding!

Have you run through a controller calibration?

I take it your drone isn't hammering upwards or downwards at full throttle, but creeping upwards (or the opposite).

Here's a question: ignoring the fact that the drone is constantly creeping upwards: are the pitch, roll and yaw stick commands obeyed by the drone and cease the instant you let go of the stick?

It sounds like the drone is in ATTI mode (if that is the case: with a roll command, the sideways movement of the drone will continue after you release the stick)

If the drone movement after the pitch, roll and yaw commands halts as soon as the stick input ceases: I'd start looking at the controllers throttle/yaw stick (left side). It may be that the Hall sensor is sticky or faulty. The controller calibration screen will give you a good indication if this is the case.

In atti mode, the drone will maintain altitude.
It's horizontal drifting that happens with aiit mode.

This behavior really sounds like something is interfering with the VPS sensor, making the drone constantly believing that something is closer than 0,5m below it... & by that tries to ascend away from it.

The constant descent following a longer descent stick command indicate the same... the drone sees something closer than 0,5m & goes into landing mode.

Have you attached something to the drone that can be seen by the VPS sensor on the belly of the drone?

Share a .txt flight log from a flight showing this behaviour so we can compare the VPS & barometric height readings.

is the Drone in normal mode or have you got it in sport mode maybe or atti? did you switch them manually?
Do you wipe your sensors with your thumb to clean the glass?

One way to check this is to take the drop up beyond the range of the VPS sensor and see if the behavior persists.
