This is when it was working really nicely , now it broken.
at 6:00 minutes in Air Warning and Plane
What good is . . .
Manned Aircraft Nearby
then
Manned Aircraft Approaching - Fly at a safe altitude
. . . though ?
Do you have to click on a map then and see if the aircraft is at 1000', 10,000', 30,000' ?
That is awkward and dangerous to leave an app screen to go see where the aircraft is altitude / directional wise.
Eyes not on a device screen view, or on the drone itself, for how long ?
Airsense would make sense to a drone pilot if parameters could be set to say under 1000', even that's excessive of course, but the aircraft could be descending.
And then it should show altitude on the app screen, not just 'nearby', this could really cause undue concern, probably 99.9% of times that such a warning is shown.
Only larger aircraft have the necessary transmitter, and you can both see and hear those coming, even from 4 miles away! Private aviation, helicopters, crop dusters, paramotors, and other drones cannot be detected by AirSense because they lack the required transmitters, and the military aircraft turn them off.
Exactly, and in many countries not all aircraft are required to, or do, have ADS-B fitted.
Here in Oz, anything light commercial doesn't . . . small planes and helis, though I think CASA would like to see it introduced, and might have made progress towards getting that introduced / possibly mandated long term.
It's no good being alerted to aircraft at their normal flight altitudes, which is virtually less than a minute after departing from, or prior to arrival to, an airport tarmac . . . and anything lower than 500' is pretty rare, and should be the only aircraft to really be on interest to a drone pilot.
Yeah they are still tweaking it. I keep mine on Medium so I don't get as many alerts.
Ah, good oh, just saw your reply while typing, and it addresses one of my biggest concerns.
So medium, what sort of aircraft altitude does this alert to ?
And I think there must be a low alert level, anyone know what that is ?
