Alimos or Kalamaki is located in the Southern Sector of the Athens Basin in the Attica Region. The name Alimos comes etymologically from the Homeric word als, which means sea in the ancient Greek language.
According to archeological findings, the area has been inhabited since the Neolithic Age (around 5000 BC) and is characterized as a coastal early Helladic settlement.
Marina Alimou is one of the largest marinas in Greece, with more than 1,000 yachts.
Next to the marina and on Poseidonos Avenue is the city's swimming pool, while inside the marina there is a small number of restaurants. The maximum depth of the marina is 6.5 meters.
