After owning my mavic for a couple of weeks been on a few flights nothing to serious. I’m amazed how far some of you guys go when I get to 200ft high and about 300ft away I go in to panic mode. Hopefully within time I will have 8**** the size of coconuts like you guys lol [emoji106]

Keep flying and practicing. Even though I’ve done over 200 flights on different and various weather, I still go into somewhat of a panic mode if I go far over water on a windy day and lose signal.
But the Mavic is very stable.
Also I find the higher I go the safer it is, especially with trees. People don’t hear it or see it. Also the view changes.
Enjoy your flights. N

I don't think that "nerves thing" really ever goes away. I've been flying for years. I find when I restrict my flight to the boundaries of an open field, I am very calm when I fly. But, just the other day, while my Mavic was far, far away - across a deep and wide river canyon and beyond - I got hit with a gust of wind. I chickened out on my distance run, and started reeling 'er back in. These darn things do keep you on your toes.

I have flown my phantom to 1800ft ish. It was over water @ 1800. I was a bit nervous when I lost video as I lowered behind some trees. PUCKER! I had RTH set 50ft above highest area trees. But I hit up on sticks and then moved in my yard to get around the trees a bit.

Do you mean you got a gust at your location, or you somehow knew the mavic had taken a gust?

I dont get nervous over water. I fly over the missouri river and Lake oahe all the time. I flew from one side of the lake to the other which is pretty **** far.

I personally got hit by the wind as it blew through the river canyon - over which I knew my Mavic had to fly on its return path. I didn't get a single wind warning from the craft, but knew that I had better reel it in to ensure plenty of time to deal with the winds it had to face on its way home.
