It's the story. The story. Story. What are you trying to tell people? What is the story you are relating? That is when it all starts to fall into place. Every shot has a purpose A roll, B roll, whatever. All another step to telling the story. I don't tell stories here. That's not what this site is all about. It's about flying a drone. That is not a criticism, just an understanding of audience. But the author of the video is telling stories. He knows before he goes out what he wants to come home with. He has a pretty good idea where each piece will fall into the puzzle. When he comes across something new he imagines how to put it to use. Get on a forum that's all about cinematography and the pros will tell you. Story, lighting, set, actors, story, story, story. Cameras come last.
