yep stay down away from things you dont control .. on the other hand we had a fire in a filed not so long ago and I was close enough to it.. talking to the fire guys and they asked as I knew one of them to fly over it .. opposite side smoke was blowing .. to see the extent of the fire and where it could spread .. so I did .. they said thanks I was happy to oblige .. I am a member of the Irish coast guard so I know what they need to do and what I need to do .. stay away until / if asked.. they would be asked the same if the incident is on the water ..

Fire brigade use drones here (inspires and thermal camera drones) routinely.

The main problem is if you ARENT in direct contact with an incident you don't know what assets they've called (helicopters, spotter planes etc).
