Im sorry if this has been answered before. I DID search.. hmph.

I have had my OG Mavic 3 in storage over a year. Maybe closer to a year and a half. Since my last post around here.. I gave up flying my drone because I would get super anxious while flying.. lol. That seems to be over as ofbtoday.. I had a great time flying today!

I kept my batteries the way I was supposed to and I spent the afternoon yesterday charging everything up and updating all folirmware and all software. Everything went fine.

I was able to fly all afternoon and had a great time. I only have like 11 cycles on my three batteries and they responded well today.

My question is I can't seem to find my RID and I downloaded some android app and it doesn't show my drone while in flight. Maybe I don't understand what the RID is supposed to do or if I even need to know it... maybe I need another app?
If i don't need to worry about then that's great too!

If you are using the newest firmware you will definitely will be transmitting RID. It was only drones made before a certain date that needed a RID firmware update.

I use the Drone Scanner app on Android and it has always worked. It picks up DJI drones, and Ruko and Holy Stone RID modules.

Some people do report problems with certain Android phones working with the app though.

Turn on Bluetooth and Wifi.

OK.
Thanks so much for helping me out. I 100% am updated with everything. All firmware and software related to my drone and RC. I am also using that exact app you mentioned.
I just didn't see my personal drone on the app while it was in the air. I DID notice a place to choose the serial # of my drone in the settings of that app but there were no numbers to choose from and I haven't added any info into the app.
Honestly, its a TINY deal and I'm just happy I'm back in the saddle again and enjoying my Mavic! I feel like I have a new drone with such a minimum of cycles on my batteries and the great shape its been kept in the last year or so..
Ill try again tomorrow and see if I can find my drone inflight.. Thanks again!

hmm.. I DID just renew my FAA registration 5 minutes ago since it came due and on the FAA website where it listed my Mavic 3 it had the serial number and registration number and where it said "RID" it said "NO." there was no number there. BUT I was able to purchase my registration no problem just now.

Couple of things to know, the FAA website and registration process has nothing to do with your drone with regardl to verification and validation meaning the FAA database will generally accept whatever you put into it and it doesn’t check with your drone. So you need to make sure you enter your details correctly and accurately and not rely on your submission to be “accepted.” Just because you paid up and your card was charged doesn’t mean your registration is valid. For the Mavic 3 in the US, you mostly likely need to answer YES to standard RID and you need to enter either the RID or the Serial # in the proper field before you have a valid registration which including marking your drone. There is one tiny exception to this but it probably doesn’t apply to you.

OP make sure your serial number starts with 1581 and you can obtain this several places on your drone if it came with RID from the factory, or in your settings if you bought your Mavic 3 before RID was standard.

So you should be answering Yes to RID. It is Standard RID. Place the full serial number with the 1581 etc. number.

The database had the information you entered three years ago when you first registered, back before RID was required. You probably want to update it. And you've made me realize that I need to check on a couple of my older drones.

I've never got an android RID app to pickup anything and I've been right near folks flying. As long you updated everything and your settings show an RID serial number & RID enabled, you're good to go. You took all the steps to comply with current rules.

Ok. Thank you everyone.
Yes, all the info was entered 3 years ago..lol.
And glad to know some people don't see their RID on the app.
Im not going to worry about it.. I've done everything I've supposed to do and I WILL go back to FAA site and enter any correct info..
Thank you for figuring out the serial number to put in as RID
