I have found that doing a compass calibration while using my left hand, (Apple Watch worn on my left wrist), that the Mavic will often fail calibration due to the “magnetic catch” that the charger uses to index itself on the charging cord. If you have an AW, bring a ferrous object close to the back of the watch to see for yourself. It’s not too strong of a magnetic pull but just enough to skew the the compass calibration process. ...and we all know how important it is to have a good CompCal at takeoff.

Either take the AW off or use your other hand. Hope that helps some....

Good tip John. You should always remove metallic objects from your person when calibrating to be sure. No watches, keys, coins, etc.

I can‘t emphasize it enough that a compass calibration needs to be carried out in an magnetically uncontaminated environment. I‘ve even put away the RC a few meters while turning my Mavic forthe compass calibration. I only did this 2 times in entire Mavic Pro lifetime (+1 year) in an open field with no metal on, in and above the ground.

Today when I got messages from the app like ‚magnetic interference‘ or ‚compass redundancy switch‘ I can be sure that my bird is standing on unsuitable ground for taking off. Recalibrating the compass in such a situation would be a big mistake.
