Another from the recent Scotland North Coast trip to visit friends, this time the picturesque Ard Neakie Lime Kilns, situted in Loch Eriboll, Sutherland…
We stopped to try a drone flight - after checking the ER610A Highlands Flight Restricted Zone was inactive and it was safe to fly - on the way back form Schmoo Cave - no drones allowed due to nesting birds at the cave - and although the anenometer said the wind was within limits the drone was flying right at the outside of its possible flight envelope. battery useage was 62% in only 8 minutes, and while still over the wrong side of the island after only 5 mins of flight the controller warned me I only had 5 mins flight left - hardly enough to fight back against the wind… Thankfully it made it back with 38% battery left, but for a moment or two I was worried…
