Guys I know there has been tons of discussion over profiles and I have watched many videos in YouTube. However, I am confused over the fact that some people are saying this wonderful profile ART is available again and some are saying it isn't. I have read about FILM A through H or whatever. However, many of the profiles I am reading about I don't see when I try to test them on my system. So....... does this ART profile really exist? Is it called something else now? Please help me understand what the CURRENT capabilities are and what the current recommendations are. Too much of what I'm watching and reading doesn't seem to relate to the current state of the system.

UPDATE: I thought I would add what profiles I am seeing. I have never heard anyone even mention any of these past number 4. And where are the FILM styles I keep reading about? I am confused.

1. None
2. True Color
3. D-Cinelike
4. D-Log
5. Emili
6. Poles
7. Momo
8. Lumin
9. AgateG
10. Jess
11. Zen
12. AgateB
13. Phantom

Thanks,
Rob

Art is on my list

Art has returned in IOS devices with the previous firmware, but is still missing on Android.
File A through H was renamed which is now called Emili, Poles, Momo etc.

I've settled on D-Cinelike (-1 -1 -1)

What about color grading with D-Cinelike. Any LUTs that work well with that style? I am not the best at manually color grading. Was hoping to use someone else's LUT's.

I have some LUTS from GroundControl and they work well.
They supply both D-Log and Rec.709 versions.

When editing D-Cinelike footage, I'll set my Black and white points, adjust midtones and saturation and then if required I'll apply one of the Rec.709 LUTS.

I bought these
Griffin LUTs for Mavic Pro

but any of the Rec.709 LUTS will work

So what's the deal with Art being missing from Android? Was it ever included or has it just been taken away?

It was there about January.
For a while you could go back to Art by using an older App, and if you didn't change it the style stayed the same in newer apps even though apparently not on the list.
This all got too tricky or impossible with DJI Go4.

For some reason (plain awkward I suspect) they ignore requests to include it on Android again.
I can't imagine any reason Android is incapable, so can only assume it's one of several engineered minor annoyances intended to encourage more users to move to iOS.

Try the d-log +1/-3/0 setting with the SpectrumGrades LUTs. The results are really good. Here's a film made with them designed for the Mavic...

Thanks both. I have tried D-log, but didn't really like it, if I'm honest. Having said that, I'm only using iMovie, so the whole editing process is a bit basic at the moment anyhow. I'll probably end up buying an iPad 4, and going the IOS route for more options.

@Peregrine - there's heaps of reading on what D-log is, but ultimately all log camera profiles are designed to assist with colour grading in post production, a capability iMovie lacks. If you're editing in iMovie, you're better off shooting in one of the Rec.709 profiles (anything other than none, cinelike or d-log I guess).

Thanks KDog. The whole video side of things is a huge learning process for me. I may splash out and get something a bit more "pro" for editing, but not until I have a bit more idea.

IMHO FinalCut Pro is the best first step into video editing, especially from iMovie. Not sure how much it's costs these days (I think you might be able to trial it), but it's very intuitive and can be picked up in no time. Again IMHO, shooting good footage is only the first half of the job; good post-production is the other half and can bring your footage to life. Good luck!

Not sure but I'd stay clear of that. I should clarify that FinalCut Pro is (as far as I'm aware) only available on the Mac platform (OSX) and so is available through the App Store. You'll be able to find the price there if you're a Mac user. If not, Adobe Premier is available for Windows and Mac platforms, is a little more complex to understand but really is the industry standard for video editing.

Apologies if I misled re: FinalCut Pro by leaving out that it's available for Mac users only.

I'm not sure of any more 'entry level' video suites supported by Windows. I'm sure if you start a new thread you'll get plenty of suggestions.

Yes, I'm a Mac user. I already have it's sister program, Logic Pro X for music work and purchased direct from the App store. I know that price is suspiciously cheap, but thought that it might, somehow, be legit as it was google's 1st hit. I didn't think that scammers and pirates could promote their craft that easily in google. Maybe I'm just naive.

FinalCut Pro is $299.99 in the Mac App Store.

Oh right - yeah it seems too cheap to true. I'd just stick with the software from the App Store - that's the only way to ensure that you get ongoing updates etc. I purchased FCPX years and years ago and it just downloads and installs the latest version as it's released.

Then again, maybe it's legit and I'm a risk-averse skeptic [emoji51]

No, the more I look, the more my suspicion's arise. I'll give this particular bargain a miss. I shall wait until I can afford it, and then go the official route. I'll spend the time in-between, trying to amass some killer footage ;)

You have some great footage there. The biggest problem I have with the Magic though, and I'm not sure if there's a cure, is the juddering. It's evident in your video, particularly on the white ship in the foreground, at around 2.09. It seems to manifest itself mostly when hard outlines are in shot. I took some footage from within a forest last week, and the effect when panning around the tree trunks, however slowly, was quite displeasing. I need to have a play around with different frame rates, and resolutions, because I'm struggling to find a sweet spot as yet.
