Authorization for Recreational use within NFZ

I apologize in advance, but I need some up-to-date info. I’ve searched and found a lot of conflicting info.

As a recreational pilot can I obtain authorization to fly in an NFZ? One recent post (from July) mentioned the FAA added a recreational flyer option within Air Map but I do not see such option. I’m looking to go no higher than 50 feet for just a few minutes. I live in an NFZ 1 mile from PIT airport directly under approach to least busy runway.

Yes, you would use a LAANC app like Airmap or KittyHawk. The area you are wanting to fly in also needs to be listed on the facility map grid with an available altitude above 0 feet. (some areas very close to airports are not available to recreational pilots regardless of your intended altitude)
