Focusable lenses have a larger aperture which can be a benefit letting in more light which can help you keep a lower ISO and / or get a higher frame rate or shutter speed. Sometimes you want things to be out of focus depending on what you're filming. Fixed focus is easier on the operator though, so it just depends on what you're looking to do.
It's like asking why an iphone isn't a better camera than a full frame DSLR. For my Mom, an iphone is a better camera since it just works and does what she wants. For me my Canon 6D is a better camera because I know how to use it and I want different pictures than she does.
