Hello everyone, so I am having a bit of an issue with the DJI Air 3 drones focus,
I’ve done some research on the DJI air 3, and a lot of people are saying that the focus is poor.

So i reached out to the company, DJI, and asked if they could put out a firmware update to fix this problem, and the same answer I get every time I go online with DJI, is…
I will give your feedback to our technical support team.

DJI doesn’t fix the problem immediately, they just send my feedback to the support team.

And unless DJI doesn’t put some firmware updates out to fix all of the features missing on the DJI air 3, my DJI air 3 won’t be fixed.

Here’s what’s happening with the drones focus, it goes sharp and then blurry, and then sharp again.

Has anyone noticed that on the DJI Air 3 drone?

I use the auto focus a lot, because I think it will focus the best.

But maybe I should try the manual focus?

What do you guys say?

I hope everyone is doing well, and I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on how to get this issue fixed.

i cleaned the camera lens, and there’s no fingerprints on the camera

if the DJI Air 3 could shoot in 5.1K resolution, man, that’d be awesome.

It is currently the best bang for your buck, besides the DJI Air 3S, which I do not own.

How is everybody? I’m doing great. It’s been a long crazy week, I’m sick and tired of all these DJI drone bans going around. It’s hurting the economy. 😢😢, we will never recover from that, if it happens.

I’m going to switch the topic.

Most people think that drones are bad, because people are afraid. And they have every right to be afraid, just because people buy DJI drones for Aerial Photography, doesn’t mean people should complain to the government to ban them.

I get that people don’t like being filmed with a drone. And I get that drones bother people, drone sensitive people,

And especially the drone Karen’s, that absolutely make Karen kind of comments like: what are you doing? You can’t be doing that!
I’m calling the cops to sue you!

Those kinds of people are super annoying!

Fortunately, I’ve never come across a Karen… yet. I’m just hoping I never have to deal with a Karen. I don’t have the patience to talk to a Karen.

If you guys have ever experienced this, please let me know. Let’s solve this problem!

I’m writing this long paragraph because I want you to understand my issues with the DJI Air 3, and how to solve the national problem of people who should not judge a book by its cover, where drones are concerned.

I really would like everyone’s honest opinions and thoughts, I need all the help I can get.

Thank you for everyone’s time.

The elite drone pilot, out!

The DJI Air 3 is a great drone.

On your focus issue, in the end does your image come out looking good? If so, maybe don't worry about it as it sounds like it is working correctly. When you auto focus, wait until it focuses and becomes sharp and then take your image.

On your Karen problem, as long as you know you are following the rules you should be okay. If the Karen calls the police, if you are in the right, you have nothing to worry about.

A few thoughts:

Have you installed the latest update?

Have you tested auto-focus when the drone isn't in flight? If not, set the drone on a firm surface with the camera(s) aimed at a distant subject, press the shutter button halfway until focus is achieved, and then press the shutter button the rest of the way to trip the shutter. Test both the 24mm and the 70mm cameras. If one camera refuses to focus or if one camera yields sharply focused images and the other doesn't, then the offending camera's focus mechanism or lens spacing may be out of whack in. If results are consistently sharp for both cameras, then the problem may relate to the settings you've chosen, the manner in which you actuate the focus/shutter button, or how you frame your shots when actually flying.

Are you shooting at an ISO which allows a higher shutter speed? If not, then adjust ISO accordingly. Note: In low-light conditions, auto-focus is more problematic than when a scene is brightly illuminated and, since the aperture is fixed, shutter speeds will be lower to allow more light to reach the sensor. Lower shutter speeds increase the risk of blur due to motion of the craft and/or subject.

When the craft is aloft, do you stop and hover when taking pictures or shoot on the fly? You'll get sharper results if the drone is relatively static when you trip the shutter because the auto-focus feature has more time to analyze, interpret, and react to detail, and because there's less risk of motion blur.

A camera will auto-focus more readily and more accurately if subject detail is contrasty and if the detail you want to be in sharpest focus is centered in the field of the view. If the primary subject isn't centered, and if centered background detail is relatively indistinct and uniform, like a blank wall or an expanse of water or lawn, for instance, then the camera may have trouble trying to focus.

You can also set it to manual focus at infinity, then take a couple shots, if they are sharp, then check the suggestion above. If not, it may be as suggested above regarding the lens.

I just started a thread for my Specta Air (Air 3 clone) because the wide angle lens will not focus at all. it doesn't try to focus and manual focus does nothing. It wont even move the lens at all. I did what they suggested and now am waiting for them to figure out what to do next. before this I had no focus issues at all then all at once for no reason it stopped working on that camera.
