Automatic termination of recoding whilst in flight?

I havent had this occur before, but now it seems to end the recording, each time I go beyond 4 mins ( approx) ? Before I was able to go for as long as I wanted and/or the space on the large Microcard would allow.

Have I accidentally switched something on? on the controller/app that ends the video recording and then auto re-starts it again, whilst in flight?

Never had a recording stopped per se, but every 4 minutes the bird starts a new file. Don’t think there is a setting which will change that.

OP, try downresing to lower than 4k and see if it does it.

The reason for recordings being split over several files is that the files are limited to 4GB. That's a FAT32 limitation. ExFAT supports bigger files but typically systems resort to the lowest common denominator.

Things that bear on the size of the file are frames per second, and resolution. If you turn down your resoltuion, and FPS, you will get alot more mileage from 4gb.

Thank you all for your swift answers. I guess I should have said also it is around 4GB when it terminates and re-starts. Could switching to Manual focus have triggered this also?

No. From what you're saying, it sounds like you hit the max possible file size. You can rejoin the files with video editor.

There have been many cases where that 4GB file size limit has caused me to wind up with multiple files for one recording session. As others have mentioned, whether and how often you hit that limit depends on the length of the recording, the frames-per-minute setting, and the video resolution. It's fairly easy to splice together multiple segments (files) in a video editor. I'm a real newbie when it comes to video editing; if I can figure it out, anyone can.
