Yes, the moton controller works with both the Avata and the FPV Drone. I use it for both drones. And yes, it is forward flight only, no reverse and no ability to yaw or orbit around an object using the Goggles V2. However with the newer goggles 2 you have Head tracking that allows the pilot to turn his head left or right and the drone will yaw in that direction while maintaining the direction of the motion controller. I have the older goggles V2 so not an option for me and the newer goggles 2 are not compatible with the FPV Drone. Using the older goggles it is very simple straight forward flight and it is pretty exciting flying low or shooting gaps. No fancy aerobatics, loops, rolls, etc.Assuming its like the motion controller for the FPV they are great for forward flight but have you tried sideways flight?
I was able to get some backwards flight by going 'beyond the vertical' but but it was very limited motion.
Glad you liked itExcellent demo of the Avata and motion controller device, superb!
Yeah, the RC Controller does allow for Yaw and Banking maneuvers that the Motion Controller cannot. It is nice if you want to drift by the face of an object or orbit. But the real value of the RC Controller is the ability to put it in Manual Mode and do aerobatics. That said, the Avata is not very good at doing aerobatics. Being a Cinewhoop it is prone to prop wash and tends to fall out of rolling maneuvers when inverted. The FPV Drone on the other hand does aerobatics well, so I tend to use that when flying in Manual. It really too bad that DJI did not make the goggles 2 compatible with the FPV Drone so Avata owners could fly both dronesI recently purchased the FPV RC so I could “push” the Avata a little bit more. Cool thing with the motion controller is you can let inexperienced friends fly because it’s pretty easy and straightforward. I would not let an inexperienced friend fly with the RC.
I have a feeling that once I start flying with the RC, I won’t personally go back to the motion controller.
