8 miles from what airport? What is your exact location? Does the airport have a control tower? Details really are important.

You still need to use caution like always BUT at 8 miles you should be just fine flying where you are. An airliner on final approach will be above the legal 400 ft limit at 8 miles away anyway.

What "B4UFLY" app are you using? Because the actual B4UFLY app doesn't work anymore. It was disabled quite a while ago.

The B4UFLY apps deal only with regulations. They have nothing to do with air traffic. The "OK to fly" result would not change if there was a helicopter hovering 10 feet overhead.

There will never be an app to replace your eyes and good common sense. I use Aloft for air traffic

After months of waiting for a darn forest fire alert within 9km of my daughters home in BC Canada, forbidding me to fly a drone, the alert is finally gone. Pretty useless since summer and fall both seem to be in the rear view and our next trip there is not until xmas, perhaps even snowing then. I'll see if I get a small break in the weather and get a flight in.
