Battery temperature too high?

Hello everyone,

I'm just got my self a Marvic Air and so excited to be a new member of the community.

I have noticed high temperature for the battery, which is ~ 40 C even in idle (I only turn it on). Every firmware was updated, I tried 2 batteries but got the same result. I haven't fly it for long yet, but I suspect the temp would be even higher when I record video. Has anyone know about this issue, and is there any suggestion on what I should test to know the exact cause?

Thank you all!
Danny

What's the ambient temperature? Have you check your flight logs and look at the temperature trend? It will get a little warm sitting on your desk. Flying with air blowing past will help cool it down. Again, depends on ambient temperature.

40C is fine. In fact the batteries won't even charge at full speed unless they are warmed up to a certain temperature - the ideal range is 22-28C. Most lithium batteries are pretty happy up to 60C or so.

Also when the drone is moving through the air there is natural cooling compared to just sitting on a table.

The batteries (and drone) are designed to be used in ambient temperatures up to 40C, so obviously their own safe operating temperature would be much higher.

A more common problem is actually keeping the batteries warm enough if you're flying in the cold. Nothing to worry about my friend - keep enjoying your drone!

wow thank you guys, what a relief! Heading out today to play with my lovely drone. Everyone has a good weekend. Cheers!!

I've hit up to 72celcius. These batteries run hotter than other quads I've used previously. I'm surprised it hasn't puffed up yet..
