Subject:

Hi everyone,

I’ve got a quick question for all the battery aficionados here!

I have an Avata 2 with three batteries and a charging hub. The manual suggests a high-watt charger for faster charging, and my 80-watt charger does the job beautifully—super fast and efficient.

That said, I’m curious: would occasionally slow charging (when I have the luxury of extra time) help extend the batteries' lifespan or perhaps provide a deeper charge?

I’d love to hear your thoughts or any advice you can offer!

Thanks in advance,
Lance

Best advice is not to fully charge the batteries if they are going to sit for any length of time. The DJI charger is designed to maximize the life of the DJI batteries.

Best advice is not to fully charge the batteries if they are going to sit for any length of time.

The BMS will discharge them to 60% if left unused for a number of days. How many varies depending on model.

While it does degrade the usable life of the pack every time it is charged or discharged, the self-discharge and then recharge back to 100% when used is insignificant, and has no measurable impact in ordinary use.

And more importantly, don't forget to charge them after they've been sitting idle for 2+ months. That's the fastest way to kill DJI batteries.

I have more details on that here:

But heat also kills batteries. I have never understood why people want to wirelessly charge their phones, heating them up and degrading their battery. As I charge my phone overnight anyway, so speed is just not important, I use an old 5W charger that takes several hours to charge up to the 90% max that I set. My battery stays in much better health than others I know that always fast charge theirs. I use a 20W charger when I have time to feed my battery hub...
