best drone for gift for my mom?

I want to get my mom a drone as a gift and I was considering the Neo but ive been told it doesn't perform well indoors (where she would likely use it most). I want to get her something small and extremely user friendly because it would be her first drone and she isn't really technologically advanced which is why I considered the neo because it doesn't require a remote but again I was told it doesn't perform well indoors or its at least not recommended to fly it inside. she would use it outside but what she would use it for is more of an indoors thing but can occasionally be out doors. does anyone have a recommendation to replace the neo.

DJI drones aren't really designed for indoor flight, especially in an average-sized house. If you're set on buying a DJI drone, the Neo would likely be your best option due to its small size and built-in prop guards. However, there are likely many other brands that are far more affordable and better suited for flying indoors for fun.

well I'd prefer DJI because there a well known brand and what makes me so attracted to DJI is the features such as active track, way points, etc as well there various products and product compatibility. I considered the neo because of the automatic active track upon launch becuase it would be very difficult to teach my mom how to control the drone but I don't want it bumping into something and breaking something or the drone itself and I get that it happens drones crash but I don't want it to knock something important over. I am open to other brands though if its as user friendly as the neo.

Get the Neo and move the Ming Dynasty vases into another room and close the door. The Neo is the least likely to damage something of all the DJI drones.

Relying solely on the automated flight features without using a controller or phone will severely limited what she'll be able to do with a drone indoors.

I have a DJI Tello with a Gamesir controller that I fly in the house....it crashes into everything, and doesn't break anything....or get broken

I have a Tello too! They are a little "fidgity" tho;. For ease of flight like your mom needs there really are no other brands out there that dont require you to learn the controller. Tello sure, its an option I think your best option would be Post #4 really, You could look at say an Avata 2 ( NOT 1 ) But in reality whomever gets a Drone also needs to operate it safely, Just letting the "features" fly the Drone is gonna get her into trouble.....FAST!
P.S. If you can get one....Get a Tello for yourself.
With the Gamesir controller they are fun little racers!!

Unless your mom is an experienced indoor drone pilot, she'll likely find it challenging to avoid crashes while flying inside.

DJI drones aren't exactly known for emerging from crashes unscathed. Repairs can be costly and often require sending the drone to DJI or a repair shop for servicing.

Any DJI drone would undoubtedly be one your mom would enjoy, but flying indoors could quickly become a more expensive hobby than she's prepared for.

well she would use it for recording herself not as a toy. I feel the neo would also be good because when she does use it to record herself she'd be to busy to use any manual controls. I want to get it for her as a follow me drone like it is advertised.

how so? I'd figure airspace would be an issue but I can easily help figure that out for her. also I'm not trying to promote rule breaking or anything of the sort but I feel like smaller drones especially the neo wouldn't draw the FAAs attention or anything. theres a childrens park by my house, the airspace where I live is class d air space and the park is in a 0 altitude zone and I see little kids flying there toy drones that they were given as like a birthday gift or something all the time and I never see any authorities and nobody is really bothered . I dont say anything because I don't want to be "that guy" although I might just inform the parents about the regulation in the area but I wont try to shut them down and they aren't flying recklessly and most of the drones I see cant go to far or fast at all. although if I do see someone being reckless with there drone I will say something to them and if necessary I might report it but I haven't had to do so yet and hopefully I wont have to.

ah I see lol yeah I'd probably have to just help her pilot it or something or look into another gift like the osmo mobile although becuase shes not technologically advanced it would take some time for her to figure it out. doesn't it have voice control in the app as well?

Not a concern indoors. Building interiors are not regulated.

The features, like waypoints, will probably not work inside. The house’s structure generally interferes with GPS.

This is more of like a toy, only 4" wide. However it has all the controls of a good drone, will go up to 60-70 feet away. Is very small and won't damage anything. I use to give it to people to LEARN to fly a drone. It has trim controls so you can fine tune it to hover. It is less than a $100. Just a suggestion, get one for her to learn with indoors with no risky dangers. Then after she learns the controls and likes it, you can move her up to something larger. If you do get it, don't let her fly in a even slightly windy condition or it will blow away.

I used to have one just like that I got it as a Christmas gift from my grandma. somehow though the micro controller onboard corrupted or something shorted but after some time of not using it I went to charge it and even with the power switched to off when I plugged it in the the motors would start spinning at full power no matter what I did but i definitely agree its a good starter and can take a good crash.
